Our Philosophy
We believe that inclusion isn't just about access — it's about belonging. At Camp Evergreen Horizons, every program, every facility, and every interaction is designed with the understanding that children of all abilities deserve to experience the magic of summer camp.
Our approach centers on what campers can do, not what they can't. We adapt activities, not expectations. When a camper reaches the top of our climbing wall — whether on a modified route or the most challenging one — the celebration is the same.

Dr. Rachel Whitfield
Camp Director
Ph.D. in Therapeutic Recreation. 15 years in adaptive camp programming. Rachel founded Camp Evergreen Horizons to fill a gap she saw in inclusive outdoor education.
Marcus Chen
Program Director
M.Ed. in Special Education. Certified Adaptive Recreation Specialist. Marcus designs our activity curriculum to ensure every program is fully inclusive.
Sarah Okonkwo
Head of Camper Services
Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Sarah works directly with families to create individualized support plans and ensure every camper feels safe and supported.
Ben Alvarez
Waterfront Director
Certified Lifeguard Instructor and Adaptive Aquatics Specialist. Ben runs our waterfront program with an unwavering commitment to safety and accessibility.
Our Team Is Growing
Behind our leadership team are over 60 counselors, specialists, and support staff who make the magic happen every day. We hire people who are passionate about inclusion and ready to give campers the summer of their lives.
All staff receive extensive pre-season training in adaptive techniques, behavioral support, first aid, and inclusive communication. No prior experience with adaptive programming is required — just heart, dedication, and a love for working with young people.
